Subject: LIMIT OF PLAYOFF OFFICIALS

Kinda late - but from experience I can tell you that you've got to get your name out there somehow - either by being active in your local Association or - better yet - getting involved with the OHSAA as an assigner or trainer or clinic presenter. I've been as low as crew #62 and as high as crew #1 - but it wasn't until I got active in clinics, mentoring, and training that I got more games. No matter who is in charge - they have to know who you are. Call the OHSAA and ask what they need - they should find you something to do.

NEED TO GET THE POLITICS OUT OF OFFICIATING JUST LIKE POLITICS IS INVOLVED WITH EVERYDAY LIFE. IT IS A DISGRACE THAT IT HAS TO BE LIKE THIS. PENNSYLVANIA LOOKS AT THE PHYSICAL BODY CONDITION OF THE OFFICIAL TO WORK PLAYOFF GAMES. TO FAT NO GAMESIN PENNSYLVANIA, SHOULD BE SAME IN OHIO.

I LIKE WHEN PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT SOME OVERWEIGHT OFFICIALS, ID RATHER WORK WITH AN OVER WEIGHT GUY WHO HUSTLES CAN CONTROL A GAME AND COACHES, RATHER THAN SOME FIT PERSONAL TRAINER WHO DON'T KNOW THE RULES AND GETS YOU IN ALL KIND OF TROUBLE!!!

I know this is real late but as someone who has observed numerous playoff games for OHSAA, if it is noted that an official is not hustling and he is excessively overweight, this will be taken into consideration for future assignments. It is not good PR for OHSAA to have poorly performing officials in the playoffs, especially if they don't look professional. It is up to the observer to report these officials to OHSAA and not be part of the buddy system.

I can say that from an observer's point of view, if you are not following the Gold Book in a playoff game and it gets reported to Dr. Maurer, it gets taken seriously. If you are not fit, this only compounds the situation. Over time, the poor officials will get weeded out, or have their games severely limited. It will catch up to you.

STOP YOUR CRYING. WORK HARDER TO BE A BETTER OFFICIAL AND YOU WILL GET RECOGNIZED. ASK ASSIGNORS TO OBSERVE YOU. PLAYOFF OFFICIALS ARE CHOSEN BY VOTES OF AD'S, ASSIGNORS AND MOST OF ALL THE OFFICIALS THE OHSAA HAS THE MOST CONFIDENCE IN. NOTHING IS FAIR, WORK HARDER.
